The ideal breakfast sandwich should be a jump start to a first-rate day. Each bite should contain the flavor of delectable contentment, fueling us for everything that comes next. The pleasantries of silverware aren’t necessarily required and there is distinct joy in savouring a hand-held, sometimes gloriously “yolky” sandwich.

Book Club Restaurant, Minneapolis: Chorizo Breakfast Sandwich made with an English muffin, green goddess dressing, scrambled egg, spinach and cheddar cheese. (Also pictured: Black Bean Huevos)


Westside Wine & Spirits|Market, located in St. Louis Park: The Full Nelson made with a breakfast bun, fried egg, breakfast sausage, Tillamook white cheddar, arugula, and smoked paprika mayo.


Black Walnut Bakery, Uptown: Egg & Cheese Croissant made with fluffy egg custard, gruyère cheese, and fine herbes chèvre spread on toasted croissant bread.


diane’s Place, located in the Food Building in NE Minneapolis: The sausage, egg and cheese croissant made with a soft omelette egg, scallion cream cheese and a house made breakfast patty.

Smith Coffee & Cafe, located in Eden Prairie: Bacon Avocado Egg Sandwich layered with eggs, bacon, cheddar, avocado and spicy mayo on a milk bun.

An outstanding pop-up breakfast burrito, and two of my homemade breakfast sandwiches.
- Not a sandwich, but a true hand-held treasure: The Quince Minneapolis Market breakfast burrito is a wrapped up combo of pure deliciousness. Watch for their adored pop-ups around town.
- Breakfast Burger made with Peterson Craft meat, Grilled red onions, Provolone cheese, sriracha aioli and a sunny side up egg.
- Breakfast Sammy made with a breakfast sausage patty, melted white cheddar and a sunny side up egg.
